Short n' Sweet
by Sristi Guduru
i think poems should
Be short n’ sweet
i don't like poems
that go on
and on
and on
forever and
ever and
ever
Because
when you read a poem
a million lines long
you forget what
happens in the
beginning
so you must read it
again
But when you
read the beginning
for the 2nd time,
you forget the middle
so you read it
again
But when you
read the middle,
you forget the end,
so you read it
again
But when you
read the end
for the 2nd time,
you forget the
beginning
so you read the poem
over and
over and
over again
don’t you
agree with
me?
everyone likes
poems that are
short n’ sweet
it’s like receiving
apples when you
trick o’ treat
apples are yummy,
the perfect treat,
you may not agree
but would you rather
eat candy
and get
cavities?
Dentists don’t like
cavities;
They get mad
and yell
at itty,
bitty
children
who don’t floss
their teeth
here’s a fun fact:
when you eat blue
candy, your tongue
will be blue
like a
giraffe’s
giraffes are gentle
creatures, gentler
than you,
and they don’t read
poems that aren’t
short n’ sweet
unlike you
