Every morning, Mr. Dube stands at the bus stop before the sun rises. He wears the same brown jacket and greets every student by name.

Yesterday, I asked why he came so early.

“My house is too quiet now,” he said.

This morning, I arrived ten minutes early and stood beside him.

We did not talk much, but the silence felt less empty.
